Telegram founder Pavel Durov has commented on the search carried out at the Paris office of social network X. He wrote that, in his view, France remains the only country in the world pursuing criminal cases against all major social platforms. According to Durov, French police are currently searching X’s Paris premises, while France is prosecuting services that offer users “some degree of freedom,” including Telegram, X and TikTok. He concluded his post by stating: “Make no mistake: this is not a free country.”

French authorities have previously taken action against various social networks and messengers. Durov himself was detained at a Paris airport in August 2024 over accusations related to Telegram’s operations, underscoring ongoing tensions between the platform and French law enforcement.
