Telegram founder Pavel Durov underwent interrogation by French judges on Monday regarding potential platform complicity in criminal activities. The Russian-born executive, indicted in August 2024 on organized crime charges, faced his third questioning since arrest.

Durov’s lawyers contested the indictment’s legality, stating: “We firmly contest investigative acts defying domestic and European law,” while Telegram emphasized compliance with EU regulations. The CEO previously acknowledged moderation shortcomings and pledged improvements.

French courts eased his travel restrictions on July 10, allowing trips to Dubai, while legal teams challenge key constitutional and EU law questions.
