Pavel Durov, the creator of Telegram, recently shared three important life principles passed down from his father, who celebrated his 80th birthday in July. 

When asked to distill his wisdom into three key pieces of advice for future generations, Durov’s father emphasized first the importance of being a role model—setting a positive example for others to follow. His second recommendation focused on maintaining a positive outlook on life and mastering emotional control to positively influence family, colleagues, and society as a whole. Lastly, he urged listening to one’s conscience, underscoring that moral values are more important than talent. Pavel highlighted that ethical standards hold enduring significance, even in an era dominated by advances in artificial intelligence, unlike creativity or intellect which may fluctuate in relevance. 

Previously, Durov also shared that strong mathematical skills are essential for successfully managing projects and starting a business.
