Russia’s State Duma has no intention of prohibiting advertising on Telegram, according to Anton Gorelklin, First Deputy Chairman of the Information Policy Committee. Speaking to RIA Novosti, he highlighted that Telegram was among the first platforms to support the law on labeling online ads.

The messenger now offers advertising through influencers, chatbots, and its official ad platform. Gorelklin noted that after the Instagram ban—due to Meta’s extremist designation in Russia—key platforms for advertisers shifted to VK, TikTok, and Telegram.

This comes amid calls to sharply increase fines for placing ads on banned foreign social networks, as reported by the NSN Radio Telegram channel. The stance underscores Telegram’s compliance and growing role in Russia’s digital advertising landscape.
