Following the restrictions on Telegram and WhatsApp in Russia, Google Meet has become a popular alternative for communication among businesses and individuals. However, a significant increase in complaints about the service has been reported, with most users experiencing website outages (72%) and mobile app issues (17%). 

Users from Karelia, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Ivanovo, and Leningrad regions have been notably affected. The ban on major foreign messaging apps has led companies to seek temporary solutions like Google Meet, Zoom, and Viber, while some are investing in IP telephony and CRM integrations—options that require more time and resources. 

Mobile operators in the Northwest Federal District reported a 26% rise in mobile data traffic since August 13, partly influenced by seasonal factors. Russian authorities maintain that restrictions aim to combat fraud and terrorism, with no plans to extend limits to other services.
