Telegram Adds Passkey Login via Password Managers on iOS and Android

Telegram has rolled out support for passkey-based authentication in the stable versions of its iOS and Android apps. To enable the feature, users need to open Telegram’s Settings, go to the Privacy section, and select the new “Passkey” option. A passkey is a device-stored access key managed by password managers such as those from Google, Apple, Samsung, and other providers.

Once created, the passkey lets users log into their Telegram account without entering SMS codes or traditional passwords. Access is confirmed through the device’s built‑in authentication methods, like Face ID, fingerprint scanning, or the device unlock code. The feature was initially spotted in beta testing in early December and has now been made available in public releases, expanding Telegram’s support for modern, passwordless login methods.
