Roskomnadzor has partially restricted calls on Telegram and WhatsApp in Russia to combat fraud and terrorism, sparking mixed reactions among the population.

According to a SuperJob survey of 1,600 economically active Russians from across the country, 36% support these limitations, citing increased security and encouraging more face-to-face communication. However, 48% oppose the restrictions, arguing they do little to deter scammers while inconveniencing regular users, such as shift workers who lose video contact with family or remote employees facing work disruptions. The remaining 16% were undecided.

The survey reveals demographic divides: men show more opposition (60%) compared to women, where 43% approve. Younger people under 35 largely disapprove (57%), while support is stronger (46%) among those 45 and older. Additionally, higher earners (over 100,000 rubles monthly) tend to oppose the restrictions (53%) more often than lower-income groups. The results reflect contrasting views on balancing security and user convenience in digital communication.
