Telegram Blocks Amazon CloudFront Links with False Spam Errors

Telegram News 2026-01-09 Create

Users worldwide are reporting that Telegram blocks messages containing the cloudfront.net domain, a popular Amazon CDN used by countless websites to host media files.

Attempting to send such links triggers an error popup: “Sorry, you can only send messages to mutual contacts at the moment.” This message typically indicates a spam-related account restriction, but affected users confirm no actual bans are in place.

The @tginfo team suggests Telegram may have accidentally blacklisted the domain while targeting malicious activity. The app appears to misinterpret server rejections from CloudFront, displaying an incorrect generic spam-ban alert instead of a precise error.

No official statement from Telegram has been issued, but the issue persists across platforms.
