Telegram is testing a long-awaited background upload feature in the iOS beta, finally allowing iPhone users to send files without keeping the app open. Previously, transfers would pause as soon as the app was minimized, forcing users to stay inside Telegram until uploads finished. In the new beta, files continue to send in the background while you switch to other apps, with a dedicated system notification showing that uploads are ongoing. 

On iPhones with Dynamic Island, active Telegram transfers are now displayed there, and a special system window indicates how much time remains until the upload is complete. At this stage, continuous background uploading is only available on devices running iOS 26 or later. The feature is still in testing and will roll out to all users in an upcoming global Telegram update.
