On the evening of July 31, Telegram users in several countries reported service interruptions, according to Downdetector. In Russia, users experienced disrupted notifications, mobile app failures, and website issues. In the UK, the US, Germany and elsewhere, complaints noted server connection errors and login problems. Reports spiked on Downdetector shortly after 7 PM UTC.

The outage coincided with Telegram’s July 31 update, which rolled out global search for public channel posts, with extra queries for Premium subscribers.
