Blind blogger Andrey Kuklin demonstrated that key interface elements in Telegram’s updated mobile apps no longer work correctly with Apple’s VoiceOver screen reader. The primary complaint targets the bottom navigation panel, where menu buttons are now inaccessible—VoiceOver ignores them entirely, failing to announce their purpose. 

This prevents visually impaired users from switching between chats, settings, and other app sections. Additional controls in the new design also evade VoiceOver detection, severely limiting usability for those reliant on voice navigation. The regression turns Telegram from a functional tool into a frustrating experience, isolating a key user group and highlighting gaps in accessibility testing during recent redesigns
