Telegram is piloting an auction-based gift distribution in its iOS beta. The system allocates 50 gifts per round to the top 50 bidders, with bidding positions rolling over to subsequent rounds if they drop out of the top 50. If a bidder does not win in the final draw, their stars are refunded in full. 

The current implementation applies only to newly released gifts, and it remains unclear whether the mechanism will extend to previously released items. The feature is described as under development and limited to a test server, meaning its behavior could change as the project evolves.
