Telegram is poised to host a gift auction feature in its test builds, signaling a new way to buy and trade gifts within the app. The discovered functionality suggests that gifts can be auctioned in batches, with each batch containing 50 items. Bids would be displayed with a star-like symbol, and the top 50 bidders would win the gifts in that round. Unsold bids would roll over to subsequent rounds, generating new batches of gifts. 

The event is described as ongoing until all gifts are allocated, and if a user does not win any gift after all rounds, their stars are refunded. This development, revealed via Telegram’s testing channel, hints at an ongoing push to expand in-app commerce and engagement through collectible items.
