The TON Foundation has appointed Nikola Plecas, formerly of Visa’s crypto division, as its new Vice President of Payments. Plecas will lead the development and scaling of TON’s payment infrastructure for Telegram’s 1B+ users and ecosystem partners. His mandate includes ensuring regulatory compliance, forging institutional partnerships, and driving secure, interoperable payment solutions. At Visa, Plecas pioneered crypto commercialization and global payment optimizations. TON CEO Max Crown emphasized that payments are central to TON’s mission of mainstream decentralized services, citing Plecas’ expertise as critical for global growth.
