Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said he has reached a preliminary one‑year agreement with Elon Musk’s AI company xAI to distribute the Grok chatbot to Telegram’s more than 1 billion users. Under the arrangement, Telegram would receive a reported $300 million in a mix of cash and equity, and be entitled to 50% of subscription revenue generated by Grok sold through Telegram. 

Durov described the partnership as a way to bring powerful AI features to the messaging platform while sharing upside from paid usage. However, within hours Musk publicly responded that no final contract had yet been signed, prompting Durov to clarify that the deal exists “in principle” and that legal formalities are still pending. The talks come as Telegram faces regulatory pressure in Europe and legal charges against Durov in France over alleged misuse of the app.
