Microsoft Launches Copilot Bot for Telegram
Introducing Copilot for Telegram: Microsoft’s AI Chatbot
Microsoft has officially integrated its Copilot bot into Telegram, providing users with a new way to interact with AI directly in the messaging app. Currently in beta, Copilot for Telegram allows users to search, ask questions, and converse with the AI chatbot, making it a valuable tool for anyone looking to access artificial intelligence while chatting.
How to Access Copilot for Telegram
To start using Copilot for Telegram, users need to search for the official bot in the app. Once located, users are prompted to share their Telegram phone number with Microsoft to proceed, which may feel unusual given Telegram’s emphasis on privacy. The bot is identifiable by its official checkmark and the username @CopilotOfficialBot, ensuring users are interacting with the legitimate version of the assistant.
Features and Limitations of Copilot for Telegram
Copilot for Telegram offers a variety of functions, such as suggesting movies, generating workout routines, assisting with coding tasks, translating conversations, and finding quick facts online. However, it does have some limitations. Currently, Copilot for Telegram only supports text-based interactions and cannot generate images. Additionally, there is a daily limit of 30 exchanges per user, meaning each conversation can only have 30 back-and-forth turns.
Copilot for Telegram vs. Other AI Bots
While Copilot for Telegram shares similarities with other AI chatbots, such as Meta’s integration of Meta AI into its chat apps and Google’s Gemini in Google Messages, it is Microsoft’s own solution designed specifically for Telegram users. This addition is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to expand its Copilot AI tools across various platforms, including business applications and Microsoft 365.
Microsoft’s Expanding Copilot Ecosystem
The launch of Copilot for Telegram is just one part of Microsoft’s growing suite of Copilot products. Beyond the free Telegram bot, Microsoft offers a paid Copilot version for Microsoft 365 that grants access to advanced AI models for $20 per month. The company has also rolled out Copilot for PCs and various business applications, aiming to integrate AI assistance into all aspects of its ecosystem.
