Telegram Slowdown Threatens App Release Schedules in Russia

Russian mobile developers warn that the throttling of Telegram could disrupt app release cycles and internal workflows. Fork-Tech innovation director Vladislav Laptev notes that, after foreign platforms left the Russian market, Telegram became a key channel for distributing test builds. Red_mad_robot’s iOS development lead Alexander Tuzovsky adds that Telegram now serves as a central transport layer: project and release chats, CI/CD notifications, bots collecting tester feedback, and automated store publication status messages all rely on it.

Fork-Tech says developers risk losing a critical infrastructure channel for the second time in four years. According to red_mad_robot’s Sergey Ivanov, throttling already slows notifications and file transfer speeds. “Reshenie” product director Anfisa Kondrashova stresses the economic impact: an authorization code sent via Telegram costs about 5 rubles, while SMS can exceed 40 rubles, making large-scale SMS delivery several times more expensive.
